Overview

Why plan maintenance instead of fixing things as they break?

A broken rail, a loose strand of wire or a frozen trough can injure a horse or leave it without water. Worn arena surfaces and blocked drains cause problems too. Small faults that are left alone tend to turn into big, expensive ones.

We start with a survey of your property and agree the priorities with you. Then we set up a maintenance schedule so jobs are done before they become urgent. We find, brief and supervise reliable contractors, and check the work before it is signed off.

Planned maintenance also makes costs easier to predict. You know what is coming up over the next year and can budget for it.

Getting started

How do we get started?

The first steps are the same for every service, and none of them commit you to anything.

  1. A first conversation

We talk about your property, your horses and what you want to achieve, and answer your questions. There is no obligation.

  2. A site visit

We look round the yard, land and buildings and go through your routines and records to see what is working and what is not.

  3. A written proposal

You receive a clear proposal setting out what we recommend, how involved we would be, the timescales and the cost.

  4. Management and reporting

We put the plan into action and send you regular reports in plain English, so you always know where things stand.

FAQs

Common questions about grounds & fencing

Can’t see your question? Try our main FAQ page or ask us directly.

Do you carry out the work yourselves?

We manage and coordinate the work, using trusted specialist contractors for fencing, building, groundworks and arena surfaces. You get the right skills for each job and one point of contact.

Can you help with a new arena or stable block?

Yes. We can help you work out what you need, get quotes, coordinate with designers and planning consultants where needed, and oversee the project through to completion.

Do you offer winter preparation?

Yes. Frost protection for water supplies, gateway and track improvements, gutter and drainage checks and storm preparation are all part of our seasonal schedules.

What type of fencing is safest for horses?

Post and rail is popular because it is easy for horses to see and has some give. Electric fencing works well for dividing fields. Barbed wire is not recommended for horses. The right choice depends on your fields, your horses and your budget, and we can advise on each case.
