How we work

How our equine management process works

You should always know what we are doing, why we are doing it and what it costs. This page explains each step, what goes into your monthly report and the standards we work to.

  • Six clear steps
  • Written plans and agreed budgets
  • Monthly reports in plain English

Our process

From first call to regular reporting

Every client goes through the same six steps. A one-off review ends at step three, while full estate management carries on through all six.

  1. A first conversation

We start with a relaxed chat about your property, your horses, the people involved and what you would like to change. We answer your questions and explain how we could help. You are under no obligation.

    Plain EnglishNo obligation
  2. A site visit

We visit to look at the yard, land and buildings and to go through your routines, records and team. We pay as much attention to what is working well as to what needs fixing.

  3. A written proposal

You receive a proposal that sets out what we found, what we recommend, how involved we would be, the timescales and the cost. It includes a list of priorities in order.

    Clear scopeCosts agreed upfront
  4. Settling in

Once you are happy, we agree a start date, meet your staff and contractors, set up records and reporting, and tackle the first priorities.

  5. Management and reporting

We deliver the agreed services day to day and week to week. Each month you receive a report covering horses, land, repairs, spending and paperwork.

  6. Regular reviews

Every few months we sit down with you to review progress, plan the coming season and adjust the scope if your needs have changed.

Owner reporting

What goes into your monthly report?

On managed packages, your report covers six areas. It is short, written in plain English and points out anything that needs a decision from you.

Horse welfare

Health issues, vet and farrier visits, condition notes and anything that needs your decision.

Land and grazing

Which fields are in use, work completed, the state of the grass and plans for the coming weeks.

Buildings and repairs

Repairs finished, new problems found and maintenance planned for next month.

Budget and spending

Spending against budget, costs coming up and anything waiting for your approval.

People

Staffing, rotas, training and contractor visits.

Records and compliance

Records updated, risk assessments reviewed and anything due for renewal.

Our standards

The standards we work to

  • Welfare first. The health of the horses comes before convenience or cost.
  • Agreed spending. We never spend above the agreed limits without your approval.
  • The right person for each job. Vets, farriers and specialist contractors do the work they are qualified to do.
  • Everything written down. Routines, decisions and records are recorded and you can see them at any time.
  • Honest advice. If something is not worth doing, we will say so.

Let’s talk

Start with a conversation

A first chat costs nothing and commits you to nothing. Tell us about your property and we will take it from there.
